Antler Skunk With Kit by Raymond Tsalate
An antler skunk and its kit carved by Ray Tsalate with rounded Japanese pink coral inlaid snouts and blue green Fox Mine turquoise inlaid eyes. The pair have an overall gray coloration. Both the skunks have tails that wrap lyrically over their backs with incised lines running down the sides and center of the tail - then inlaid with green serpentine pigment. There are three incised lines on the faces - inlaid with serpentine pigment. Finally; the elder skunk has an incised line to the left and right of the tail that is also inlaid with serpentine pigment. Skunk medicine places emphasis on being distinct. It symbolizes the importance of being who you are and living authentically without caring about other people's opinions. When the skunk appears, it's to help you build up your self-confidence. And an animal carved with its young suggests the love that exists between the parent and the child - regardless the species.
