Antler Dragonfly Maiden by Raymond Tsalate

$ 700.00

A small cream and gray tinged antler dragonfly maiden carved by Ray Tsalate with penn shell eyes, coral mouth and abalone inlaid wings, that is mounted to a small antler base. The maiden 'floats' - thanks to a thin gage of copper wire - over a serpentine lily pad with a mother-of-pearl flower and antler cattails with copper stalks. The maiden has a simple coral and turquoise single strand necklace, wears a kilt like a shawl with pipestone triangles and malachite dots inlaid on the back of it Her manta peaks out from under the kilt shawl with one jet line inlaid around the manta's edge. Dragonfly represent water needed for crops; since they are always found where water is present. The Zuni also consider dragonflies to be the messengers between humans and the Creator as their iridescent wings remind us to consider the ethereal realms that might be within our grasp if we only believe in the possibility of other realities. A dragonfly maiden is a lyrical signature carving for Ray.
