Andres Lementino
Gold-Lip Mother-of-Pearl Bird, Swan by Andres Lementino
A fantastic thick mother-of-pearl swan with a gold-lip head and turquoise inlaid eyes - carved by Andres Lementino in a resting pose. On the swan's left side, the wing is carved in low relief with lines incised all over it. Then Andres inlaid a small natural coral dragonfly onto the wing. When Andres visited, he told a Zuni story about how the swan stole the Zuni corn and hid it in the water. Swans are associated with the sky in some tribal traditions and as with other white waterfowl - swan feathers are considered a symbol of harmony and spirituality.
