Orthoceras Badger by Loren Tsalabutie

$ 125.00

A low-to-the-ground orthoceras fossil carved badger with turquoise inlaid eyes carved by Loren Tsalabutie. Orthoceras was an ancient mollusk that lived more than 400 million years ago. The name means straight horn, referring to the characteristic long, straight, conical shell whose remains can be seen running down the center of the badger's back - creating a natural heart line - that ends at the tip of the tail. Independent and tenacious; the badger is also a symbol of protection and defense, because the badger is always ready to defend its boundaries. The badger is thought by the Zuni to possess knowledge of herbs so is good to have around when one is dealing with illness.
