Turquoise Maiden by Sandra Quandelacy

$ 190.00

A turquoise maiden figure with a prominent brown matrix carved by Sandra Quandelacy featuring a mother on one side and a corn maiden with incised corn rows on the opposite side. The maidens' faces are carved from the same stone and have incised features inlaid with jet pigment. Both maidens support a picture jasper water jar on their heads inlaid with a pin for permanency with turquoise and coral chips inlaid inside the jar. The maidens wear apple coral pendants with jet inlaid star bursts and dragonflies floating to the sides of the maidens' shawl. Maidens symbolize the divine gift of the harvest, fertility, and life-giving abundance. They are highly revered fetishes representing the nurturing feminine energies, the creation of sustenance, and the connection to the earth's cycles.
