Antler Bird, Horned Owl by Chris Peina

$ 45.00

A cream and brown streaked antler horned owl carved by Chris Peina looking to its left side with jet inlaid eyes. Chris has incised lines on the plumicorns, around the owl's eyes as well as on the wings and tail suggesting the bird's feather rows. The great horned owl is named for the tufts of feathers that sit on top of its head. The Zuni people generally view the horned owl, often called "the Night Grandfather," as a protector of the home, a guardian of ancestral knowledge, and a symbol of wisdom. As a keeper of the night, it symbolizes the ability to navigate through the unseen, clairvoyance, and the uncovering of deception.
