Black Marble Bird, Eagle by Hiram Peynetsa

$ 550.00

A show stopping black marble eagle with turquoise inlaid eyes carved by Hiram Peynetsa in flight with its wings outstretched. The wings have incised feather rows that cleverly come to a point along the edge of each wing. There is a base made from the same stone - this allows the eagle to fly unhindered. On one side of the extended wings, Hiram has incised a feather with a Zuni sun face inlaid with bits of mother-of-pearl, apple coral, lapis and jet. On the opposite side of the wings, Hiram has incised on the top extended wing, a motif depicting an abstract heart line. Just under the top wing is the eagle's body with a mother-of-pearl disc inlaid at the center - symbolizing the moon. The Zuni believe the Creator made the eagle to be a teacher for mankind. The eagle is the guardian and master of the sky - revered for its power, strength and dynamic grace. The eagle has incredible vision so eagle medicine calls one to look at the comprehensive whole picture of any situation.
