Picasso Marble Maiden Figure by Sandra Quandelacy

$ 370.00

A striking gray, black, sepia and brown colored Picasso marble maiden figure carved by Sandra Quandelacy in a style similar to her deceased sister; Faye Quandelacy. Sandra has carved a corn maiden on one side with a pipestone inlaid face and jet features. The corn rows are nicely incised with dots inlaid in their midst - featuring hand made purple alunite, turquoise, apple coral and malachite dots. On the opposite side there is a mother at the top and a small girl placed near the base - both with clam shell inlaid faces and jet features. Maidens symbolize the divine gift of the harvest, fertility, and life-giving abundance. They are highly revered fetishes representing the nurturing feminine energies, the creation of sustenance, and the connection to the earth's cycles.
