Black Marble Badger by Hiram Peynetsa

$ 120.00

A fantastic low-to-the-ground black marble badger carved by Hiram Peynetsa looking slightly to its left side with turquoise inlaid eyes. Hiram has shaped and polished the carving then he incised a stripe that starts at the tip of the nose and continues past the ears. Finally, the stripe transforms lyrically into the shape of a leaf. This area stands out because it was incised after the carving was polished. The badger is revered as the primary guardian of the South, symbolizing healing and a deep knowledge of the earth. As a fetish, the badger represents passion, persistence, and the ability to find herbal remedies like roots. Independent and tenacious; the badger is also a symbol of protection and defense, because the badger is always ready to defend its boundaries.
