Antler Maiden by Waldo Davis

$ 150.00

An elk antler maiden carved by Waldo Davis with jet slit style inlaid eyes and turquoise inlaid circular mouth. The maiden wears a striking gold-lip tablita style headdress which symbolizes the harvest dance. There are incised lines on the headdress - inlaid with jet pigment - enhanced with cream colored serpentine pigment painted dots. There are six star bursts inlaid with turquoise dots on the front of the maidens manta/dress with a few jet pigment dragonflies inlaid near the base of the horn. The maiden is inlaid to a alabaster base for added stability. Maidens symbolize the divine gift of the harvest, fertility, and life-giving abundance. They are highly revered fetishes representing the nurturing feminine energies, the creation of sustenance, and the connection to the earth's cycles.
