Dolomite Horned Toad by Melvin Sandoval
A soft pink sand orange streaked dolomite low-to-the-ground horned toad carved by the abstract carver Melvin Sandoval. Melvin has incised a six pointed crown of horns on the lizard as well as oval slanted eye sockets and a mouth full of zigzag teeth. The horned toad lizard represents longevity and self-reliance and there's a link in Zuni belief between the horned toad and lightning; deriving from the zigzag spikes and horns found on the head and ridges on the toad's back.
