An outstanding yellow ocher colored picture jasper mountain lion with turquoise inlaid eyes, incised mouth and snout - plays host to his 5 brothers - creating in form the 6 animals the Zuni revere and the directions and colors they represent. The lion is the 6th brother; he represents the north and his directional color is yellow. From the lion's right side - there is a jet mole that represents the nadir underworld with the color black being the assigned color, an iridescent abalone eagle which represents the zenith heavenly realm. There is an apple coral badger on top of the mountain lion - representing the south that is mounted to a soft blue turquoise arrowhead. On the lion's left side there is a mother-of-pearl/white wolf, representing the east and finally; a turquoise bear that represents the brother of the west. All but the turquoise bear have turquoise inlaid eyes and are securely placed on the lion's back with sinew with one turquoise bead placed on top of the badger surrounded by pen shell heishi.
