Rhoda has carved one corn maiden and five mothers on the carving - all have olla\/water jars incised in low relief on top of their heads. Maidens symbolize abundance, fertility and feminine energy and corn maidens are revered in Zuni for giving up their life to help sustain the Zuni tribe with their corn bodies.
