Multistone Six-Directional Set by Peter Gasper, Jr.

$ 200.00

A six directional set carved by Peter Gasper, Jr. The set represents the six animals the Zuni revere and the directions they represent. So there is a turquoise bear to represent the West, a cream tinged onyx wolf to represent the East, a jet mole who is the brother of the nadir underworld, a zebra stone eagle - a brother of the heavenly sky realm, a dark red pipestone badger - who is brother to the South and a dolomite mountain lion who represents the Northern direction. The wolf, eagle, badger and mountain lion have turquoise inlaid eyes, the bear has coral and the mole has slits for eyes. Each animal has a fabulous offering bundle with a shell arrowhead with turquoise and apple coral beads placed on top. Dinah Gasper; Peter's mother and Lena Boone's only surviving sister - was the one to instruct Peter on making the bundles - the family makes some of the best - they are secure and very traditional.
