Andres Lementino
Pinolith Bird, Horned Owl by Andres Lementino
A small white, gray and black veined pinolith horned owl carved by Andres Lementino looking to its right side with turquoise and jet slit style inlaid eyes. Andres has incised minimal lines radiating around the owl's eyes and then added some lines on the bird's wing and tail to symbolize feathers. The great horned owl is named for the tufts of feathers that sit on top of its head, called plumicorns. The Zuni believe the owl can see what others can not - they assist in helping to root out deception and they can get to the essence of true wisdom. Owls are messengers from the spirit realm - bringing wisdom, truth, and understanding of the mysteries of life.
