Burt Awelagte
Travertine Medicine Bear by Burt Awelagte
A cream, tan, gray and brown veined Orderville, UT quarried travertine medicine bear with turquoise inlaid eyes carved by Burt Awelagte. Burt lived in Orderville while growing up. His mother was a manager at the Orderville Rock Shop and Burt cut stones there at the tender age of 8 - we were told! It was wonderful to learn a few facts about Burt, endearing us to the stone that Burt carved many animals with. We love Burt's bundles - this one has two turquoise and two amber beads surrounding a small beach shell - quite lovely! The bear is endowed with curative powers, strength, adaptability and courage - powers that can influence both the spiritual and physical realm.
