A gray, cream and caramel brown colored Picasso marble maiden figure depicting seven mothers/grandmothers with one corn maiden - carved by the now deceased Rhoda Quam. Rhoda has utilized bits of stone and shell to create the maidens' faces - notably creating three turquoise, one gold-lip, a malachite, abalone and melon shell face. Maidens symbolize abundance, fertility and feminine energy & the corn maiden is venerated in Zuni for giving up her life for the health of the community.
