Loren Tsalabutie
Mexican Opal Seal by Loren Tsalabutie
A fantastic muted white, deep purple and grayish brown veined Mexican opal seal with turquoise inlaid eyes carved by Loren Tsalabutie to balance on it's two front flippers - though it can also rest on it's chest as seen in the third image from the left. In the Inuit culture, seals are symbols of innocence, and therefore Inuit translations of the Bible use the Inuktitut word for "seal" in place of "lamb". Seals represent wealth and plenitude amongst many Northwestern Coastal tribes.
