A red and white tinged spiny oyster butterfly double carved by Valerie Comosona with the butterflies looking in different directions with jet inlaid eyes. Valerie has inlaid the butterflies to a pipestone base for added stability and then she glued turquoise chips around them. There are also incised lines on the wings & bodies of both insects inlaid with jet as well as turquoise dots. Butterflies symbolize transformation due to their larva metamorphosing into a chrysalis and then into a butterfly.
