Number Eight Mine Turquoise Maiden by Kateri Sanchez

$ 420.00

A beautiful Number Eight Mine turquoise corn maiden and mother share a tablita headdress. Carved by Kateri Sanchez, both maidens have gold-lip inlaid faces and jet inlaid features. Under the corn maiden is an incised well defined owl with jet and gold-lip inlaid eyes. The corn maiden in Zuni culture is revered for giving up her body so that the Ashiwi people can live and the women wear the tablita headdress when they perform the corn dance.
