Antler Corn Maiden and Kokoshi Figural by Troy Sice

$ 3,000.00

A gray and cream antler corn maiden with a Kokoshi on the back, carved by Troy Sice and delivered in late October of 2016! Troy says this carving depicts the maiden's spirit self with her life form. The corn maiden is the life form and the spirit self is the Kokoshi. There are cornrows incised on both sides and all the rows are inlaid with Mediterranean coral rounded dots. The maiden wears a turquoise* dot necklace with a lapis oval pendant and has pin shell slit inlaid eyes like the Kokoshi. The Kokoshi has the incised beard with horizontal bits of pin shell, malachite, gold-lip, turquoise* and lapis. On both sides of the shawl are incised triangles inlaid with jet with turquoise* dots with a rectangular portion inlaid with pin shell, jet, gold-lip, mother-of-pearl and lapis. There is one portion of the corn stalk that shoots outwards with a black marble base adding extra support.
