Turquoise Frog by Debra Gasper and Ray Tsethlikai

$ 85.00

A small personable turquoise frog carved by Debra Gasper and Ray Tsethlikai with a prominent gray matrix and sterling silver dots inlaid to the frog's raised eye sockets. The couple have inlaid five sterling silver dots to the center of the frog's back in the shape of a diamond with one dot inlaid to the center. We have been told that the dots inlaid by the couple are meant to suggest rain drops. Frogs are the result of water so are associated with the prominence of rain and are used to encourage the growth of crops. The Zuni believe the frog is a reminder that we are all the same - development wise - we begin as tiny fishlike creatures in the womb then we evolve from swimmers to creatures of the land. The frogs sings its song reminding us of our watery beginning.
