Wild Horse Rock Bird, Horned Owl by Chris Sandoval

$ 250.00

A prominent brown umber, dark maroon and white spotted wild horse rock horned owl carved perched on a rock/base made from the same stone about to take flight. The owl's face is tilted downwards with concave carved eye sockets with a turquoise dot inlaid at the center. With the wings slightly unfolding, you can see the pattern of repetitive lines that Chris used to describe the feathers. Of note is the crystalline void that Chris left on the owl's right wing between the white spots - close the back of the wing. The great horned owl is named for the tufts of feathers that sit on top of its head, called plumicorns. The Zuni believe the owl can see what others can not - they assist in helping to root out deception and they can get to the essence of true wisdom. Owls are messengers from the spirit realm - bringing wisdom, truth, and understanding of the mysteries of life.
