Yttrium Fluorite Maiden Figure by Sandra Quandelacy
A muted two tone purple colored yttrium fluorite maiden figure depicting a corn maiden on one side and a mother on the opposite side carved by Sandra Quandelacy - both have jet inlaid features. The maidens wears a fringe shawl that wraps around both sides with incised star bursts inlaid with jet pigment. The corn rows are nicely incised and have a few dots added to represent kernels. Maidens symbolize abundance, fertility and feminine energy and corn maidens are revered in Zuni for giving up their life to help sustain the Zuni tribe with their corn bodies.
