Turquoise Maiden by Sandra Quandelacy
A striking green turquoise maiden double created by Sandra Quandelacy featuring a mother on one side and a corn maiden on the opposite - both with jet inlaid features. The maidens balance a cream, gray and black veined jar on their head - inlaid with turquoise chips that symbolize water. Sandra has given each maiden a coral dot pendant, she nicely incised corn rows on one side as well as a shawl that both maidens share. Maidens symbolize abundance, fertility and feminine energy and corn maidens are revered in Zuni for giving up their life to help sustain the Zuni tribe with their corn bodies.
