There are lines incised on the maiden's matta\/gown that are inlaid with blue lapis pigment near the bottom of the gown with zigzag lines placed above it with another pipestone inlaid line placed below them creating triangles. The triangles are then inlaid with three turquoise dots. The striking feature we think is the water jar carved from the same horn. Incised lines are inlaid with jet with four turquoise and four coral dots placed in between them. Maidens symbolize abundance, fertility and feminine energy. The Olla maidens even dance in Zuni - with hand made precious pots placed on top of their heads.
