Jet Frog by Emery Boone
A small jet low-to-the-ground frog with turquoise inlaid eyes carved by Emery Boone in a style modeled after a frog found in Chaco Canyon. There are five turquoise shapes inlaid just behind the frog's raised eye sockets. Chaco Canyon was the center of a pre-Columbian Anasazi civilization flourishing in the San Juan Basin in northern New Mexico from the 9th to the 12th century AD. Frogs are the result of water so are associated with the prominence of rain & are used to encourage the growth of crops. Zuni believe the frog is a reminder that we are all the same - development wise - we begin as tiny fishlike creatures in the womb then we evolve from swimmers to creatures of the land. The frogs sings its song reminding us of our watery beginning.
