Herbert Him
Herbert Him was a sheet rock installer before he began carving in the late 1980s. Being a man of many of many talents, it's no surprise that he can carve his famous bears with such delicacy and grace. The bears with fish in their mouths have been Herbert's hallmark for the past 20 years or more.
Herbert is quite an innovative carver - he carves many different animals and birds, always making excellent use of the color of the stone. One of his specialties is a guardian such as a frog, eagle, or indian over a pueblo.Herbert's son, Herbert Him, Jr., is now carving as well. Herbert Jr.'s fetish now approach the quality of his dad's and have been on the market for about a year.
