Dolomite Frog by Andrew and Laura Quam, Deceased

$ 110.00

A small mauve, muted pink and orange colored dolomite frog with turquoise inlaid eyes inlaid to the protruding eye sockets, carved by the now deceased Laura Quam and her surviving husband; Andrew Quam. The frog has jet inlaid into it's webbed feet and has six turquoise dots added to the top of the frog's back in the shape of a triangle. Frogs are the result of water so are associated with the coming of rain and are used to encourage the growth of crops. Zuni believe the frog is a reminder that we are all the same - development wise - we begin as tiny fishlike creatures in the womb then we evolve from swimmers to creatures of the land. The frogs sings its song to remind us of our watery beginning
