Azurite, Malachite, and Chrysocola Fish, Blue Gill by Ron Laahty, Deceased

$ 180.00

A striking fairly dark viridian, copper blue, gray, muted cream and black colored azurite, malachite and chrysocolla plump fish carved by the now deceased Ron Laahty with gold-lip inlaid eyes and dark mother-of-pearl pupils. Ron Laahty sadly passed June 9th, 2021 at the age of 47. The fish is carved to rest on a leveled portion of its front lower fins and face. Ron incised lines on the fish's body to suggest gills and the fins and tail also have incised lines on them. We have been told by the artists that Blue Gill fish are what predominate in the lakes near and in Zuni. The blue gill fish represents spiritual growth, determination, and courage that we all should strive to embody in our everyday lives. It also symbolizes good luck and success on one’s journey, blessing those brave enough to make the quest. Fish are symbols of rebirth, fertility, the unconscious or higher self, luck, change, health, and feelings.
