There are fifteen turquoise, eleven coral and eight pen shell dots added to the shawl. Also there are geometric lines inlaid with jet - many form triangles with the dots inlaid in their centers. The triangles with dots symbolize rain - a form first created by Claudia's brother, Colvin Peina - now deceased. We also think the stair step form on the front and back, inlaid with jet eyes are rain clouds.
