$ 1,400.00

A large antler sculpture titled on the bottom as the 'Ancestral Fish' carved and delivered to Sunshine Studio by Norman Cooeyate & Jacqueline Ghahate in 2012. There are 3 dolphins carved in the round at the tips of the antler spikes with gold-lip & penn shell inlaid eyes. The sides are incised with 5 more dolphins with foamy waves all around them. On each side of the 8 dolphins's bodies are incised geometric patterns that are in turn inlaid with jet and coral 'paint' - all have gold-lip & penn shell inlaid eyes. The 'Ancestral Fish' are inlaid to a natural turquoise base with turquoise chips glued all around it. Finally the base has an incised decorative motif embellished with coral and jet geometric incised lines and turquoise, coral and lapis dots. There are 3 dragonflies hovering over this form with inlaid bodies of turquoise, coral & pink mussel shell - all with jet inlaid wings. The dragonfly is a messenger to Katchina Heaven.
