Douglas Martza
Onyx Bird, Roadrunner by Douglas Martza
A small green, gray, brown and golden sienna veined onyx dragonfly with turquoise inlaid eyes carved by Douglas Martza. Douglas has incised everywhere except on the beak/face and the feet. Douglas has added a simple offering bundle around the bird's neck with sinew featuring melon shell and apple coral beads that surround one larger turquoise bead; placed in the middle. Roadrunners stand out for their speed, their desire to run rather than fly and their bravery and endurance. Their 'X' shaped footprints are used by some tribes as a sacred symbol to ward off evil.
