Jet Bird, Crow Double by Rochelle Quam
A jet carving depicting two crows with sterling silver inlaid eyes, perched on a dead tree stump that is inlaid to a jet base for added stability. Carved by Rochelle Quam, the pair have nicely incised heads, tails and wings - contrasting nicely with the polished smooth beaks. In the Zuni creation myth - when the Zunis arrived to the Middle World - what we call earth; they were given a choice between two eggs. The Zuni tribe chose the blue egg and consequently journeyed to their current homeland; destined to have a life full of toil with the crow as their guide - known as the Winter people.
