A muted grayish brown orthoceras maiden figure carved by the now deceased Rhoda Quam - mounted to a small turquoise base for added stability. The carving depicts eight olla maidens with jars incised on top of their heads, two corn maidens and three mothers. The faces are inlaid with apple coral, pipestone, orange spiny oyster, turquoise, melon and clam shell, picture jasper and gold-lip to name most. The maiden symbolizes abundance, fertility and feminine energy & the corn maiden is venerated in Zuni for giving up her life for the health of the community.
