Serpentine Dog, Chihuahua by Cody Nastacio - Zuni Fetish

$ 55.00

A muted cream serpentine Chihuahua dog with animated turquoise inlaid eyes, a slightly opened mouth and a waging tail brings up the rear - carved by the prolific dog carver; Cody Nastacio. Dogs were the first carvings we received from Cody when he first started carving - it seemed it was Cody's way of finding his niche in the Zuni carving community. The Chihuahua dog, the smallest recognized dog breed, is named for the Mexican state of Chihuahua, where it was first noted in the mid-19th century. The Chihuahua is thought to have been derived from the Techichi, a small mute dog kept by the Toltec people of Mexico as long ago as the 9th century! The dog spirit animal is a powerful symbol of unconditional love, loyalty, and protection.
