Zuni Rock With Penn Shell Kokopelli Dancer by Enrike Leekya

$ 120.00

Upon request, we have a gray, cream and muted golden ocher colored Zuni rock Kokopelli dancer with turquoise inlaid eyes. Carved by Enrike Leekya, the Kokopelli plays a jet and iridescent gold-lip mother-of-pearl flute. Enrike has inlaid four pen shell panels to the back of the dancer as well as to the top of the head then incised geometric designs on them all. This is quite a lovely carving - the colors in the stone really set off the inlaid shell components! The first images of Kokopelli appeared on Hohokam pottery over 1000 years ago. Kokopelli is a Native American Deity, revered by many Native American groups in the Southwest. He is a symbolic figure associated with fertility, music, merrymaking and good luck.
