Iron Mustang Turquoise, Tonopah, NV Bird, Crow by Chris Sandoval

$ 740.00

A grayish brown and orange veined Tonopah, Nevada quarried iron mustang turquoise crow - carved by Chris Sandoval looking up at the viewer with turquoise inlaid eyes. This fantastic bird was delivered to Sunshine Studio's front porch in May of 2022. Chris has depicted the wings and tail in a very pleasing way - adding a lovely offering bundle with sinew to the top of the crow's back with sinew featuring branch coral and turquoise beads, surrounded by penn shell heishi. The Zuni believe the crow is the keeper of sacred law. In the Zuni creation myth - when the Zunis arrived to the Middle World - what we call earth; they were given a choice between two eggs. The Zuni tribe chose the blue egg and consequently journeyed to their current homeland, destined to have a life full of toil with the crow as their guide - known forevermore as the Winter people. We have also been told that the crow is considered a good arbitrator due to it's ability to act as a sieve while digesting food. A crow is a symbol of life's magic and mysteries.
