Maxx Laate
Coral And Sterling Silver Fish, Sharks by Maxx Laate
Two swimming apple coral sharks with turquoise inlaid eyes inlaid to sterling pins and held firmly in place by the sterling silver base. We picked this fantastic carving up directly from Maxx Laahte in May of 2021 at a rest stop near Santo Domingo. Maxx has started to incorporate sterling silver to small apple coral carvings - a move we think he has been able to do with the knowledge he has acquired from his jewelry carving wife; ____ Sanchez. In some Indian tribes from California, the meaning of sharks is as the contemporary one, of a dangerous man-eating monster, even though this animal avoids eating humans. As an omen, shark symbols are of a storm, hurricane, or another catastrophic weather event, when seen near shore.
