A turquoise maiden figure carved by Rhoda Quam depicting eight mothers or grandmothers and one corn maiden. Rhoda has inlaid all the faces utilizing bits of apple coral, pipestone, lapis, melon shell & gold-lip. The circles on top of the heads are olla/water jars. The maiden symbolizes abundance, fertility and feminine energy & the corn maiden is venerated in Zuni for giving up her life for the health of the community.
