Marble Bird, Barn Owl by Andres Lementino

$ 120.00

A large white marble barn owl with turquoise and jet inlaid eyes carved by Andres Lementino perched on a rock. Andres's signature double Zuni sun face is inlaid on the chest of the bird - with bits of turquoise & clam shell creating the 'sun rays' & turquoise,spiny oyster, jet and clam shell creating the sun face portion. The Sun face is an ancient symbol in Zuni culture, representing the sacred Sun Father. The symbol's round motif depicts the Sun with a forehead split down the middle to reflect the eternal balance between sunrise and sunset. To the Zuni, the Sunface represents prosperity, happiness, peace, hope, optimism, and positive energy. One ear is higher on the barn owl’s head than the other. This speaks of the power to listen at all levels. By integrating what we hear from above and below, we are blessed with the gift of receiving guidance from the heavens and the earth.
