Turquoise* Maiden by Sandra Quandelacy

$ 125.00

A turquoise figure with a prominent brown matrix depicting one large mother on one end wearing a Hopi squash blossom hairstyle. There is a corn maiden with nicely incised corn rows standing behind the large maiden on one side and a mother with long flowing hair on the opposite side. Carved by Sandra Quandelacy, all three women have jet inlaid features with jet inlaid dragonflies and stars moving the eyes all around the carving. Maidens represent abundance, fertility and feminine energy & corn maidens in particular are honored in Zuni for nurturing the people - with the flesh of their bodies.
