A large cream & gray antler shawl dancer with turquoise inlaid eyes, carved by Marlon Lowsayatee. The women's fancy shawl dance represents the opening of a cocoon when the butterfly emerges. The fringe on the shawl have a movement that coincides with the dancer. This dance was created in the 1950's & has always been a contemporary tool for bonding within Indian country mostly during pow wows. The prized attributes are poise, endurance, showmanship, agility and grace.
