A yellow brown manilla colored serpentine bobcat with turquoise inlaid eyes carved by Lorandina Sheche to mimic the early carving found in Frank Hamilton Cushing's color plate number VI - the wildcat/bobcat depiction found in the Second Annual Report of the Bureau of Ethnology - submitted to the Secretary of the Smithsonian Institute in 1880 - 1881. The bobcat is the Zuni prey God of the south and is honored by the Zuni for being elusive, intelligent & a solitary and independent hunter.
